Spotify Wrapped is Here!
What’s up, welcome! Today we are going to be looking at my Spotify Wrapped because everybody cares. Guys, I don’t know if you knew this, but everybody really cares about Spotify Wrapped. So it’s finally out.
Why don’t we take a dive into 2024 in terms of music, see what I’ve been listening to. Feel free to share what you’ve been listening to in the comments down below.
I generally think it’s a really cool thing Spotify is doing with these rewinds, and obviously a lot of other companies have picked up the same kind of trend and applied it in their marketing.
So why don’t we just have some fun and listen to some music we’ve listened to (or I’ve listened to) in the year 2024 via Spotify Wrapped?
First Look at Spotify Wrapped 2024
Alright, so here we have our Spotify Wrapped home screen. As you can see, your 2024 Wrapped is here. “Find out what rule you’re listening to this year.” Let’s hit it! Let’s see.
Hi Bogden, what’s up? That time of year Wrapped is ready. Here’s some Void of Vision. Now I’m hearing some 156 sound. 46,000—uh, that’s—that’s quite a bit. Your biggest listening day was March 22nd with 534 minutes. What came out on March 22nd?
I feel like last year my most listened-to day was also in March, but I might be wrong with that. Let’s keep it going.
My Top Songs and Bands 3,455 songs.
What’s the title of it, Spotify? Well, this is a cover art of Unreasonable Doubt by 156 Silence. For some reason, I think the title of this bugged out because it’s not here. You streamed it 50 times starting April 29th.
Okay, so 156 Silence—yes, very big band for me this year. I’ve listened to them so much after not really listening to them at all before this. So this was a big breakthrough for me personally.
156 Silence managed to drop one of the best albums of the year later this year. And I mean Unreasonable Doubt being my most streamed song, I assume, is what this means. Pretty [ __ ] cool. Pretty [ __ ]. Let’s keep it going.
Leader board: Top Five Songs
While it’s not a competition, there’s a leaderboard. So this is my top five most-listened-to songs this year.
As you can see, very diverse. We’ve got three bands represented here:
- Unreasonable Doubt by 156 Silence – at number one.
- Easily Erased by Boundaries – which is song-of-the-year material, holy [ __ ].
- Fatalis by Half Me – managed to climb its way through.
- Scars on the Soul by Boundaries.
- Better Written Villain by 156 Silence.
Very unpredictable, Bogden, as per usual. Absolutely groundbreaking results here. Wow. I mean, this is three bands that dropped some of their best material this year, so I’m not surprised that I listened to so much of them.
I highly recommend you check out all five of these songs. But [ __ ] it—specifically all five of them—they’re amazing. Let’s keep it running.
Monthly Listening Phases: A Year in Music
March: March was your Mall Goth metal phase.
Excuse me, what did you just call me? What the [ __ ] is a—oh, it’s “Mall Goth.” Like, like mall? I’m stupid. Well, that still doesn’t make sense. What are you calling me—a fake goth, Spotify? What is this?
You were really into artists like Spirit Box, Bullet for My Valentine, and Throne. Really? I swear I haven’t listened to Bullet for My Valentine in like five years.
April: Throwback.
April was your MC Blin throwback pop-action adventure season. Stevie Nicks? Fergie? Okay, I mean, I—okay, I listened to a lot of old-time, kind of more nostalgic music this year as well.
Mostly because of GTA radios. One day, I was like, “I’m going to look up on Spotify GTA radio playlists.” And holy [ __ ], the music they managed to pick out for their games—absolute, absolute amazingness. And so that playlist has been playing every time I’m driving, so that makes sense.
May: Pixie softcore metal ACC-core.
May was your pixie softcore metal ACC-core moment. You were big on artists like Bring Me The Horizon, Of Mice & Men, and Wind Waker.
Okay, well, yes. Okay, yes, Spotify, sue me. I was a pixie softcore metal ACC-core, and I still am.
Most-Listened Artists: Top Five
You listened to 937 artists—not quite a thousand, but one has a special place in your heart and ears, and it’s Northlane.
Really? Okay, Spotify up something with the design because the title of the band/song is black, and the background is black, so I cannot see but I know this is Northland.
You’re in the top 1% of fans, and you spent 1,364 minutes together. Huh. Curious. So this is my most-listened-to artist.
Top Five Artists:
- Northlane – as we saw earlier.
- System of a Down – interesting, interesting. I mean, yeah, I was kind of obsessed with their first three albums—not so much the latest one (the latest is from 2005, but still).
- Boundaries – I’m surprised System of a Down overtook Boundaries.
- Bring Me the Horizon.
- Like Moths to Flames – very cool.
Final Thoughts on Spotify Wrapped 2024
And there you have it, ladies and gentlemen—2024 Spotify Wrapped complete. Honestly, aside from Northland, I’m not really surprised. I mean, you’re not supposed to be surprised. This is stats, people—this is stats.
So here’s a secret: get yourself an account at Last.fm. Connect it to Spotify, and you’ll get way more comprehensive stats any time of the year.
But this is still fun because there’s some sort of festivity to it. You know, we all come together, share our music listening habits at the end of the year, looking forward into the next.
I’m surprised by Northland. The rest is unsurprising. The rest is pretty normal, I think. Minutes listened was around the same as last year’s I’ll have to check that.
